Tell us your canna-story. What led you to this industry? What was your first endeavor and what piqued your interest about cannabis?
After 15 years in healthcare and witnessing chronic pain as well as opioid addiction (as anesthesiologist), I was very interested in natural plant medicines to help people with less harmful effects. In entering cannabis/hemp, I studied the industry as a whole and discovered a bottleneck in processing (at the time) and wanted to enter that segment with a healthier innovation of water-extraction and so created that and brought the technology to fruition. Also, personally I have joint pain and inflammation from being a lifelong athlete, and so creating products that are natural, organic, and effective for my joint pain is important to me.
What is your favorite thing about working in cannabis and what keeps you excited about continuing to work in this space? What do you find to be unique about this industry?
Every day is an adventure! I have met some of the most amazing people (and also some with less integrity) in the space, and the constant research and unveiling of new discoveries is stimulating to me. Reducing / removing the stigma would be a major goal. What keeps me going is the incredible, life-changing testimonials we receive from customers who are finding amazing healing benefits from our products!
What do you think is the next BIG THING in Cannabis?
Reducing the stigma, relaxing the THC limit requirements, nationwide legality, and FDA guidance on CBD products for consumer confidence and standards across the industry. Product wise, I think the natural plant-growing acidic cannabinoids are the next big thing (and of course I am biased here!
What is a little known fact about yourself? What are some of your interests and hobbies?
I am from a very small town where almost no one has a passport, yet I have traveled to >30 countries in my adult life. I have run 3 full marathons, dozens of half-marathons, dozens of triathlons, 3 Ironman triathlons, bodybuilding competition, and a few degrees along the way. I am shy around strangers, love my camera, love animals, and care about people. I am taking the path less-traveled to create products / company of highest quality; it has not been easy, and I am stubborn, but as a committed science-nerd I truly believe in what we are doing!
Who is someone that inspires your work?
My best friend Jennifer believes in me, as well as my aunt, Sandy, and a business friend/mentor Tribby.
